Smile Google Checkout just keeps getting better

As many of you know, I love Google Checkout and now they have added even more value, in my humble opinion.

They have added a new anti-fraud feature that not only does the obvious, but also checks out the potential sale for refund and charge back rates.

They pre-approve the sale, but don't actually process the sale until the fraud check is complete. If the potential buyer has a habit of buying digital product and then requesting a refund or chage back to keep it for free, they won't approve the sale.

This will dramatically improve your chargeback and refund rate.

The one thing I have noticed is that may services such as autoresponder companies and other have not yet added Google Checkout to their normal default programs. i.e. Aweber is an autoresponder that will move a opt-in from prospect to customer list automatcially, but they are not configured to handle Google Checkout.

I am sure this will improve once they become more popular. My customers love Google Checkout because they don't need to set up an account like with PayPal or AlertPay and if you use their adwords service, they discount their processing fees very nicely!

    Hi Gordon,

That's great news. The anti fraud measures sound very useful. It sounds like it would protect you against some very common scams which cause problems on PayPal.

I think the only reason that PayPal remains the top online payment service is because people know it. Also most people who work on the internet will get paid with a paypal balance which they can then use to pay other people. I know that's what I do. There's no point me waiting for the money to transfer and then transferring the payments individually, it's much easier to transfer everything from my paypal balance.

I think this really needs to stop, but i can't end the cycle! I also believe that many other people are in the same boat. Maybe if another payment service made it possible to load the account with a paypal account then it would be easier to change things!

I will look at using Google Checkout for ecommerce stores. But I'm still stuck with PayPal for my invoices! I'd even prefer a regular cheque!

    Andrew
